It is the past that shapes our future.

Nostalgia
A sentiment or wishful yearning for the happiness felt in a former place time or situation.

Whilst one always try’s to reinvent the wheel, it’s those moments and memories from past years that seem to create magical emotions that transcend any future time …

Nostalgia has a very strong resonance in my professional existence.
I often hear the words
‘Sometime I wish I could go back not to change anything but to feel a few things twice … ‘

Enter : Anniversary

I was fixated on a specific set of stamps that I’d re discovered during lockdown.
These stamps celebrating 50 years of Australian TV Included a collection of iconic Australian TV figures. TV shows like Neighbours and specifically characters like Scott and Charlene featured in this stamp collection.

Icon : a person or thing regarded as a symbol of a belief, nation, community or cultural movement.

Using both an ancient iconic image of religious origins alongside the Neighbours wedding image was never meant to be anything other than the parallels of a universal timeless theme : worship

For many EP 523 ( Neighbours wedding) became an iconic moment that means so much to many.

It’s through these parallels with the use of the tv as a backdrop alongside my own writing,
I wanted to capture the spirit of popular culture, worship, image, icons, fame, the influence of tv, celebrity etc .. these themes also run parallel to the celebration of Neighbours incredible 35th Anniversary.

It was on Even More Good Reasons tour that I began to see for my own eyes the importance nostalgia plays in all our lives.

It was on this tour that I began working on these themes to celebrate this work : Anniversary

Enjoy.

‘Wasn’t it beautiful when you believed in everything …
